NH Hoteles offers for sale its only property in the U.S., valued at 120 million

NH is selling its only hotel in the U.S. in a process of renegotiating its debt of more than 962 million euros that includes a plan of divestiture under 300 million euros and a new payment schedule for the new funding up to five years.

The Jolly Madison Tower, located between 5th Avenue and Central Park in New York, is worth about 120 million euros, an income that will come very well to the chain headed Mariano Pérez Claver to meet part of the first maturity of 195 million euro syndicated loan that banks delayed until late March.

With a smaller debt and therefore some covenants below 4.7 times debt / EBITDA present, the chain will have it easier to renegotiate the terms and sign the syndicated loan financing of EUR 650 million signed in 2007, which currently must be 455 million.

Meliá Hotels International inaugura su primer hotel en EEUU, el 'Tryp By Windham' en Nueva York

La cadena hotelera Meliá Hotels International ha inaugurado su primer hotel en Estados Unidos como parte de su alianza con el grupo Windham con la apertura del 'Tryp New York City Times Square South', según informó la compañía en un comunicado.

El establecimiento está situado en pleno centro de Manhattan (345 West 35th Street) entre la Octava y la Novena avenida, muy próximo a los principales centros de negocios y atracciones turísticas de la ciudad, como Times Square, el Empire State o el Madison Square Garden.

La inauguración de este hotel se suma a las recientes aperturas en el continente americano de 'Tryp Québec Hotel Pur' (242 habitaciones), en Canadá, y 'Tryp San José Sabana' (98 habitaciones), en Costa Rica.

El nuevo establecimiento cuenta con un 'hall' de entrada, llamado Plaza Central, concebido como un gran centro de interacción social que cuenta además con un centro de negocios virtual, patrocinado por Google y equipado con la última tecnología en ordenadores y televisores, conexión wifi gratuita de alta velocidad, una biblioteca abierta y un Gastro Bar de tapas españolas inspiradas en los sabores locales. El segundo Pod Hotel abrirá en junio 2012 en Nueva York

La ciudad de Nueva York dará la bienvenida al segundo Pod Hotel, Pod 39, que se inaugurará en junio, 2012, cerca de la estación de Grand Central. The NoMad Hotel Is Now Open For Business In New York City


On Sunday the doors officially opened at the NoMad Hotel on 28th St. and Broadway, a highly anticipated project from the developers of the Ace Hotel right around the corner.
The 168-room hotel, with interiors by French designer Jacques Garcia, was inspired by a Parisian flat; the lobby decor is opulent and dark, with heavy gold-leaf panels and low lighting.

Unlike the Ace, where crowds of trendy locals and European tourists fill the lobby at happy hour, the NoMad's lobby space is tiny and dominated by the check-in desk.

It's intended to be a more romantic, upscale counterpart to the Ace.

The real action at the NoMad happens at the hotel restaurant, also called NoMad, which is housed behind the lobby in a space with a soaring skylit atrium, and the hotel bar, a small space in the back of the restaurant that expands into a two-level "library" filled with books and overstuffed couches.

The restaurant, a collaboration from Eleven Madison Park alum Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, has been even more hotly anticipated than the hotel itself. It officially opened last week, but has already received rave reviews from the New York Times' Florence Fabricant and food bloggers.

Reservations are already hard to come by, but there's an extensive bar menu and impressive classic cocktail list for anyone who wants to drop by.

A second restaurant is slated to open on the hotel's roof this summer.

From what we could tell when we stopped by on opening day, the most jarring thing about the hotel is its location. NoMad (north of Madison Park) has been called the next trendy neighborhood for years, but even though trendy bars, restaurants, and hotels have cropped up in the area, it's still a distinctly untrendy place. The entrance to the hotel, on Broadway, is directly opposite a row of perfume and cheap jewelry wholesalers.

The hotel and bar were surprisingly quiet when we dropped in, but that might have had something to do with the cold drizzle outside. We don't think it will be long before people are lining up to see and be seen there.
